Job summary

Inspired Education Group is recruiting a Maths teacher for Reddam House Umhlanga, a premium IEB school near Durban. You will plan, deliver engaging Maths lessons and support students from early years through Grade 12.

The ideal candidate has a university degree in the subject, SACE registration, and at least 5 years’ teaching experience at an IEB school. Experience with IEB marking is advantageous.

• Certified Teaching Status is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present engaging Maths lessons.
• Establish a nurturing teaching environment.
• Maintain punctuality and high standards of work and homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Teach extra lessons two afternoons per week.
• Produce high-standard resources for students.
• Respond to emails and phone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Attend school events as required by Head/manager.
• Set exams, mark assessments and write report comments.
• Prepare practical learning opportunities for students.
• Undertake other reasonable tasks as directed by Head/line manager.

ROLE SUMMARY:

• To adopt a holistic view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well‑being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, prepare and present interesting and exciting Math’s lessons
• Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing and promotes learning.
• Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behavior, standards of work and homework of students.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine your teaching practice.
• Teach extra lessons when required on two afternoons per week.
• Produce resources for students of a high standard.
• Respond to e‑mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Attend all special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
• Exam setting and the marking of exams and all other forms of student evaluation
• The writing of report comments
• Prepare practical learning opportunities for students.
• The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determine.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Skills and Previous Experience:

• Ability to connect effectively with children
• A thorough understanding of the subject material that you will be teaching
• Good planning, organising and reporting skills
• Good communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
• Good interpersonal skills and strong team orientation
• A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience of at an IEB school
• Matric Math’s teaching and IEB marking experience would be advantageous
