Placements24 is recruiting for a talented Sous Chef for a busy catering team in Port Elizabeth. You will support the Head Chef with menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management, focusing on fresh coastal dishes.

The role requires at least 3 years in catering or restaurant settings, strong seafood expertise, staff supervision, inventory control, and a calm, high-quality kitchen under pressure; there are growth opportunities and a competitive salary.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience as Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in catering/restaurant.
Strong understanding of seafood and coastal cuisine preparation techniques.
Proficiency in kitchen management, including staff supervision and inventory control.

Responsibilities

Assist Head Chef in menu development, recipe creation, and food costing.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
Manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and assist with procurement of ingredients.
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring consistency and high presentation standards.
Maintain strict hygiene and safety protocols in the kitchen environment.
Lead the kitchen in Head Chef's absence.
