Job summary

Ikwezi Mining is seeking a Rail Siding Manager to lead and optimise coal loading, dispatch and stock control at our Newcastle/Dundee site in KwaZulu Natal. You will coordinate rail wagon loading, wagon movements, and train schedules with logistics partners to ensure efficient turnarounds and compliant operations.

The role requires strong leadership, 5–8 years in coal logistics or bulk handling, and experience supervising teams.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in logistics/mining/engineering/operations management or related field.
Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in coal logistics, rail siding, mining, or bulk material handling operations.
Previous supervisory or management experience is essential.
Experience with rail loading operations and export coal logistics is preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day rail siding operations for coal loading and dispatch.
Ensure efficient rail wagon loading, staging, shunting coordination and dispatch.
Monitor performance to meet loading targets and turnaround times.
Coordinate train schedules with logistics providers and internal teams.
Oversee coal stockpile management and movement, ensuring correct grades.
Ensure safety, regulatory compliance and environmental standards.
Coordinate maintenance for siding infrastructure and loading equipment.
Lead and develop rail siding operators and contractors; manage staffing and shifts.
Prepare operational reports and monitor KPIs like tonnage, delays and uptime.
