Job summary

Amazon Development Centre (South Africa) (Proprietary) Limited in Cape Town is seeking a software developer to build cloud‑native services for AWS customers. You will work on highly available, secure systems using Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and other modern AWS technologies.

Join a Scrum team, contribute to architecture, and own components through design, test, and operations while ensuring real-time data and strict SLAs.

Qualifications

4+ years of full software development life cycle experience including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Experience contributing to architecture and design (patterns, reliability, scalability) of new and existing systems.
Proficiency in at least one object‑oriented programming language.

Responsibilities

Write high‑quality, efficient, and testable code in Kotlin, Java, and other object‑oriented languages.
Build highly available, secure distributed systems with micro‑services, containers, and cluster‑computing architectures.
Collaborate with senior engineers to solve complex large‑scale computing challenges.
Own and operate built systems based on real‑time customer data and demanding SLAs.
Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as part of a Scrum team.
Influence overall system architecture, implement specific components, and shape the user experience.
