Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment in Pretoria, South Africa, seeks an experienced Back-End Developer to join a technology team building cloud-based solutions for smart vehicle charging. Focus on scalable backend apps with Node.js and AWS serverless, contributing to architecture, automation, security and continuous delivery.

The role requires extensive Node.js, AWS serverless, CI/CD, and database experience, with active Agile/Scrum participation and opportunities to mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' production experience with Node.js in serverless environments.
• 3+ years automated testing (unit and end-to-end).
• 3+ years AWS serverless experience including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, Kinesis, S3, CloudWatch.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably CloudFormation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud architecture, Kubernetes and serverless technologies.
• Experience with virtual networks and connectivity to on-premise environments.
• Experience designing, configuring, and operating CI/CD solutions.
• Experience with monitoring and log analytics.
• Understanding of software design and architecture patterns.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience leading or guiding IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate production-ready backend applications.
• Provide and support applications in a 24/7 production environment.
• Build scalable solutions using Node.js and AWS serverless technologies.
• Monitor applications and services using AWS CloudWatch.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.
• Apply cloud security principles and best practices.
• Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Collaborate with customers, team members, and external vendors.
• Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and support team development.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and ways of working.
