Job summary

Proformant seeks a curious Forward Deployed Engineer to help clients improve operations using the A4 Framework: AI, Automation, Analytics and Advisory. Based in Pretoria or Johannesburg with hybrid work and travel to client sites about three days a week.

You’ll work with client teams to translate business problems into technical solutions, from dashboards to automated workflows, and guide engagements from idea to adoption, under senior review initially.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of relevant experience in a technical, analytics, automation, business systems or consulting role.
• Strong SQL skills and a working knowledge of Python programming.
• Excellent project management and coordination abilities.
• Clear communication skills with non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub for version control.
• Confidence using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Codex and Claude and understanding their strengths and limitations.
• Intense curiosity, adaptability and the initiative to investigate unfamiliar problems and learn new tools.
• A practical approach to problem-solving with data accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Understand client operations and requirements; translate into technical requirements and delivery plans.
• Deliver across the A4 Framework: AI, automation, analytics and advisory.
• Build practical solutions using SQL, Python, APIs to analyze data, connect systems and automate workflows.
• Develop analytics: reports, dashboards and data transformations to aid decision-making.
• Manage projects and coordinate delivery: priorities, milestones and dependencies; communicate progress.
• Lead client engagements and manage expectations; prioritize improvements by value and feasibility.
• Use AI tools to support analysis, development and delivery; validate outputs.
• Support implementation and adoption: test solutions, document how they work and train client teams.
• Improve delivery by turning lessons into reusable templates and components.
