Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead diverse projects from Nelspruit. The role covers planning, feasibility, construction, and handover with a strong focus on quality, safety, and budget control.

The candidate will manage multi-disciplinary teams, engage with clients and authorities, and ensure project milestones are met. A Pr. Eng. designation is preferred and a hybrid work model is available in Mpumalanga.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience with at least 5 years in project management.
• Pr. Eng. designation strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead diverse projects from their base in Nelspruit . This senior role requires extensive experience in managing all facets of civil engineering projects, from initial planning and feasibility studies through to final construction and handover. You will be responsible for overseeing project teams, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and schedule, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The hybrid nature of this position allows for essential site engagements and client meetings, balanced with focused office-based planning and reporting, making a significant impact on infrastructure development in the Mpumalanga region.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle for civil engineering projects, including scope definition, planning, execution, and closeout.
• Develop and control project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
• Create and manage detailed project schedules, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
• Lead and motivate project teams, fostering effective collaboration and communication.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project objectives are aligned and met.
• Oversee procurement processes and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in project management.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) designation is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex infrastructure or development projects.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and common CAD tools.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
