Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineer for an engineering consultancy in Upington, Northern Cape. The role focuses on planning and preliminary design of municipal infrastructure, including water, sanitation and roads, with the aim of improving community quality of life.

You will conduct feasibility studies, develop preliminary designs and cost estimates, assist tender preparations, and liaise with municipal clients and regulators; travel within the Northern Cape is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional registration preferred (Pr Eng / ECSA Pr Tech Eng).
• Minimum 4 years of civil engineering experience with municipal exposure.
• Knowledge of water, sanitation and road design principles.

About the Role

Our client, a dedicated engineering consultancy supporting municipal services, is seeking a proactive Civil Engineer to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape. This role focuses on the planning and preliminary design of essential municipal infrastructure, including water supply, sanitation, and roads. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual designs for municipal infrastructure projects (water, sanitation, roads).
• Develop preliminary designs, drawings, and cost estimates.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and specifications.
• Liaise with municipal clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Perform site investigations and data collection.
• Collaborate with other engineers and technicians on project tasks.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national standards and local by-laws.
• Provide technical support during the initial stages of project development.
• Contribute to the development of integrated infrastructure master plans for municipalities in the Upington area.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration as Pr Eng or ECSA Pr Tech Eng is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering, with exposure to municipal projects.
• Knowledge of basic water, sanitation, and road design principles.
• Familiarity with relevant South African standards and municipal planning processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and basic project management tools.
