Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer based in Upington, Northern Cape, to lead the design and implementation of major road and infrastructure projects. You will manage project teams, ensure technical excellence, and foster client relationships with strong emphasis on road design, drainage, and traffic engineering.

The role requires Pr. Eng registration with ECSA, 8+ years of experience, and proficiency in Civil 3D/AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with ECSA registration mandatory.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive civil engineering experience focusing on road/infrastructure design.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Proficiency in road design software such as Civil 3D or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of road networks, intersections, highways, and related infrastructure, ensuring compliance with SANS and industry best practices.
• Conduct feasibility studies, traffic analyses, and impact assessments for new projects.
• Manage all phases of civil engineering projects from conceptualization through construction supervision.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, drawings, and tender documentation.
• Oversee junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on road and infrastructure design. Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects. Proficiency in road design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, traffic engineering principles, and Pavement Engineering. Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills. Experience in preparing tender documents and managing contractual aspects of projects. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently. Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities in the Northern Cape region is advantageous.
