Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to municipal infrastructure projects in Paarl, Western Cape. The role focuses on planning, design, and implementation of roads, stormwater, and water/sewer upgrades, working with local government and stakeholders to meet growing community needs.

The ideal candidate has a BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with at least 4 years of municipal/public sector experience, proficient in AutoCAD, and strong report writing and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably municipal/public sector.
• Familiarity with municipal planning processes and infrastructure standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and basic understanding of civil design principles.
• Good report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and design of municipal infrastructure projects such as roads, sidewalks, and public spaces.
• Develop specifications and drawings for stormwater drainage systems and water reticulation.
• Conduct site inspections and provide construction supervision support.
• Prepare tender documents and assist in evaluation of contractor bids.
• Liaise with municipal officials, utility providers, and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with municipal bylaws, engineering standards, and environmental regulations.
