Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Community Organizer to mobilize residents in Vereeniging and foster civic engagement. You will build local networks, organize campaigns, facilitate meetings, and connect community members with resources and decision-makers.

Qualifications

Requires degree in Community Development, Social Science, Political Science or related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in community organizing or grassroots mobilization.
Strong relationship-building and facilitation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

Identify and engage community members, leaders and organizations to build local networks.
Develop and implement organizing strategies and campaigns to drive change.
Organize and facilitate community meetings, forums, workshops and events.
Educate communities about social issues, policies and participation opportunities.
Mobilize residents for collective action and advocacy efforts.
Build coalitions with other organizations and stakeholders.
Recruit and train community leaders and volunteers.
Document efforts, track progress and report outcomes.
Serve as liaison between community and government, providers and other bodies.
