Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape is seeking an energetic Community Organiser to mobilise community members and build grassroots support for social justice issues. The role blends extensive fieldwork with administrative planning in a hybrid setup.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership, excellent communication, and a passion for activism and community development. You will engage diverse groups, identify local needs, and facilitate campaigns while coordinating with local stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Proven experience in community organising and advocacy.
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Identify and engage community stakeholders, leaders and residents to build coalitions.
• Develop and implement strategic organising plans to address specific social justice issues.
• Organise and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and public forums.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers and community leaders.
• Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness and mobilise participation in campaigns.
• Build relationships with local government officials, community groups, and other relevant organisations in East London.
• Develop campaign materials, press releases, and digital content to support advocacy efforts.
• Track and report on organising progress, campaign outcomes, and community impact.
• Participate in policy advocacy efforts and represent the organisation at relevant forums.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
