Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Child Welfare Officer to protect the rights and well-being of children in Bloemfontein. You will assess risk, coordinate with families, and work with law enforcement, schools and healthcare providers to secure safe outcomes for vulnerable children.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field.
• Registered with SACSSP.
• Proven experience in child protection or child welfare services.
• Strong knowledge of child development, family systems, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent assessment, interviewing, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive cases with professionalism and empathy in the Bloemfontein area.

Responsibilities

• Investigate reports of child abuse, neglect, and endangerment.
• Assess the safety and well-being of children and their family environment.
• Develop and implement child protection plans and intervention strategies.
• Provide support and counselling to children and families.
• Liaise with law enforcement, courts, schools, and healthcare providers.
• Prepare case reports and testify in legal proceedings when necessary.
• Facilitate family reunification or alternative care arrangements as needed.
