This senior role is vital for ensuring accurate spatial data, precise mine development, and adherence to all regulatory requirements. You will lead a team of survey technicians, implement advanced surveying technologies, and collaborate closely with mine planning and engineering departments. This position offers a significant leadership opportunity within a major mining operation in the heart of Gauteng, contributing to the safe and efficient expansion of underground workings.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute all underground and surface surveying activities, including setting out, establishing control networks, and volumetric calculations.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all survey data, managing and maintaining survey databases.
• Implement and manage advanced surveying technologies such as total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and drones.
• Prepare detailed survey plans, sections, and reports for mine planning, development, and compliance purposes.
• Train and mentor survey technicians, ensuring high standards of work and adherence to safety protocols.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external consultants regarding survey requirements and compliance.

Requirements

• National Diploma or B-Tech in Mine Surveying or a related field.
• Professional registration with a relevant South African body (e.g., PLATO).
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mine surveying, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in underground operations.
• Proficiency with surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vulcan, Surpac) and data processing.
• Thorough understanding of South African mining survey regulations and best practices.
