Job summary

Hire Resolve's client is seeking an experienced Chief Safety Officer for a mining operation in Mpumalanga. You will lead SH&E initiatives, identify workplace risks and ensure compliance with safety standards across the site.

The role requires 5+ years in underground hard rock, relevant safety qualifications, and a driving licence. A National Diploma in Safety Management is expected, with advanced certificates highly regarded. Salary negotiable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years underground hard rock experience required.
• Relevant safety management qualifications preferred.
• Degree would be advantageous.
• Blasting certificate and COMSOC certifications are required.
• OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 experience preferred.

Hire Resolve's Client is currently looking for an experienced Chief Safety Officer to join their mining company based in Mpumalanga. You will be responsible for leading safety, health and environmental initiatives, identifying and managing workplace risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards and procedures across the operation.

Responsibilities:

• Identify hazardous conditions and unsafe practices in the workplace.
• Provide leadership and direction on Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality matters.
• Lead Health and Safety committees and support the development of safety policies, codes of practice and objectives.
• Coordinate and implement Safety, Health and Environment policies, standards and procedures.
• Conduct Health and Safety inspections across working areas and offices.
• Conduct physical inspections, audits and walkabouts to identify potential safety risks.
• Integrate Health and Safety practices throughout the organisation, including contractor safety management.
• Assess risks associated with workplace hazards.
• Implement and maintain relevant Safety, Health and Environment systems.
• Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in workplace safety.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Minimum 5 years' Underground Hard Rock experience
• National Diploma in Safety Management (Degree would be advantageous)
• Blasting Certificate for Metalliferous Mines
• COMSOC 1&2
• OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
• Valid Driver's License
