Job summary

Salix Recruitment is seeking a commercially minded Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the executive team in Germiston. This is a true business partner role, focusing on profitability, cash generation and strategic growth beyond traditional reporting.

You will lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling, partnering with MD and EXCO to drive procurement, stock control and operational performance across multi-channel channels including sales, rental and projects.

Qualifications

• CA(SA) with SAICA Articles completed.
• Bachelor-level accounting degree and CTA/ honours.
• Strong IFRS and SA statutory knowledge.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) | Location: Germiston | Full Time in office | Permanent

A leading and established South African business is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team.

Duties:

• Lead the overall financial strategy and financial wellbeing of the organisation.
• Drive annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario planning and financial modelling.
• Provide strategic insight into revenue, gross margin, profitability and cash generation.
• Partner with EXCO and business leaders to support commercial decision-making.
• Oversee working capital, cash flow, stock control and financial performance.
• Act as a key custodian of procurement strategy, supplier governance and commercial negotiations.
• Drive cost optimisation, margin protection and supplier performance.
• Oversee financial governance, internal controls, risk management and audit readiness.
• Provide decision-ready financial dashboards, reporting and performance insights.
• Challenge business initiatives where ROI, commercial viability or financial controls require further consideration.
• Lead, develop and build a high-performing finance function.
• Represent Finance at EXCO, Board, audit, budget and operational forums.

Job Experience & Skills Required:

Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• BCom Honours in Accounting / CTA
• CA(SA)

Experience:

• Completed SAICA Articles
• Minimum 7 years' post-articles experience in a senior finance leadership environment.
• Strong experience across: Financial strategy, Budgeting and forecasting, Commercial finance, Working capital management, Cash and stock control, Governance and internal controls, Audit and risk and Financial modelling
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African statutory requirements.
• Advanced Excel, ERP, reporting, dashboarding and financial modelling capability.
• Proven commercial and strategic leadership ability.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive presence.
• Experience within equipment or plant rental, industrial sales, turnkey projects, distribution, re-seller or other multi-channel trading environments will be highly advantageous.
• Experience in procurement strategy, supplier negotiations, standard costing, stock forecasting and commercial deal evaluation will also be valuable.
