Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Chief Aircraft Inspector in Midrand, Gauteng, ZA to lead the inspection department and ensure airworthiness across aircraft undergoing maintenance.

The role requires an AME license or equivalent and at least 10 years in aircraft maintenance, including inspection/QA leadership, with broad regulatory knowledge (SA-CARs, EASA, FAA) and a proven track record in quality systems.

Qualifications

• Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years in aircraft maintenance with inspection/QA focus.
• Supervisory or leadership experience in aviation maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations (SA-CARs, EASA, FAA).
• Experience with quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the inspection department, supervise staff and schedule workloads.
• Ensure all inspections meet regulatory and company standards.
• Develop, implement and maintain inspection procedures and QC programs.
• Review and approve inspection records and documentation.
• Perform final inspections before aircraft release.
• Conduct internal audits to ensure QMS compliance.
• Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Train and mentor inspectors to ensure competency.
• Liaise with regulators and customers on inspection matters.
• Stay current with aviation regulations and industry best practices.
