Placements24 in Gauteng is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join the process development team. You will translate bench-scale findings into pilot and commercial-scale operations, ensuring safety, quality, and environmental compliance while advancing efficiency and sustainability.

The role offers a hybrid work model with on-site collaboration at our Tembisa facility. A Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering with 2–5 years of experience, plus knowledge of Aspen HYSYS or ChemCAD, are required for success

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or chemical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
• Experience with experimental design (DoE) and statistical analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and environmental regulations in the chemical industry.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to other company sites as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and optimize chemical processes from bench scale through to pilot plant and commercial production.
• Design experiments and conduct testing to evaluate process parameters and identify optimal operating conditions.
• Analyze process data to identify improvements in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.
• Prepare detailed process descriptions, flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful scale-up and implementation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues during development and initial production phases.
• Ensure all activities adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Write technical reports and present findings to management and project stakeholders.
• Assist in commissioning and start-up of new process equipment and lines.
• Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering technologies and methodologies.
