Placements24 seeks a Chemical Process Engineer to optimize existing production processes in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. You will work hands-on on the plant floor with operators and maintenance teams to improve yield, quality and efficiency while upholding safety and environmental standards.

The role requires a strong chemical engineering foundation, practical troubleshooting skills and collaboration with R&D to scale laboratory methods to full production. A passion for innovation is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical process engineering, preferably in specialty or fine chemicals.
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics, kinetics and mass transfer.
• Experience with process control systems and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in process simulation software is advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Ability to operate on the plant floor and manage multiple priorities.

Responsabilités

• Monitor and analyze plant performance to identify yield, quality and efficiency improvements.
• Implement process improvements and ensure safety and design compliance.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs, process narratives and operating procedures.
• Conduct root cause analysis for deviations and equipment failures.
• Support commissioning and start-up of new equipment and units.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and company policies.
• Collaborate with R&D to scale lab processes to production.
