Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Chemical Engineer for our Benoni-based plant operations team. You will monitor process performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive minor improvements to sustain safe, efficient production.

You will work closely with operators and maintenance, upholding SHE standards and helping develop SOPs to ensure reliable equipment and compliant practices across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Experience in chemical plant operations or process engineering in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid understanding of chemical plant equipment, unit operations, and process control.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations relevant to chemical manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Monitor plant operations, analyze process data, and identify deviations from optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and implement immediate corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Support the implementation of process improvement projects and modifications.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) protocols within the plant.
• Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability and availability.
