Fedics is seeking a talented, passionate, and caring Chef to join our Johannesburg Talent Pool Healthwise team. This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys preparing nutritious, high-quality meals while contributing positively to the wellbeing and quality of life of older adults.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering exceptional meals, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, and supporting the overall operation of the kitchen. Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Service
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements.
- Ensure food is prepared to a consistently high standard of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Deliver meals within agreed service times and operational requirements.
- Adapt meals to accommodate special dietary, nutritional, and allergy-related needs.
Food Safety and Hygiene
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and allergen-control procedures.
- Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Follow safe food handling and storage practices at all times.
Menu Planning and Development
- Assist with menu planning and recipe development.
- Contribute ideas for nutritious, appealing, and cost-effective meal offerings.
- Support initiatives to improve resident and client dining experiences.
Stock Control and Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages promptly.
- Assist with ordering supplies and ingredients.
- Implement stock rotation procedures and minimize wastage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Ensure equipment, workstations, and storage areas are properly maintained.
- Support smooth daily kitchen operations and service delivery.
Resident and Client Engagement
- Interact respectfully and positively with residents and clients.
- Consider individual preferences, dietary needs, and feedback when preparing meals.
- Promote a warm and welcoming dining experience.
- Work closely with catering staff and other team members to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Foster positive working relationships within the kitchen and broader healthcare environment.
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- NQF qualification in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Chef within hospitality, catering, healthcare, or a similar environment.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and kitchen operations.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
