Job summary

MECS Africa is seeking a senior financial leader to oversee the group’s financial operations, ensuring governance, accurate reporting and strong cash management. The role is hands-on, operating across operations and group level to own financial processes and support growth.

Key responsibilities include consolidating IFRS reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management and strengthening controls. You will lead a cross-country finance team and guide strategic decisions for the business

Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA), ACCA or CIMA with senior financial leadership experience.
• Strong IFRS, consolidated reporting and multi-company accounting awareness.
• Proven ability to lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and controls.

Job description

Reporting to Group Leadership, you will oversee the financial operations of the group, ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, effective cash management and sound commercial decision-making.

The role requires a hands‑on leader who is comfortable working at both operational and group level, taking ownership of financial processes while supporting the ongoing growth and performance of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee group financial operations, accounting and consolidated IFRS reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, management accounts and financial performance analysis.
• Manage cash flow, treasury, working capital and banking relationships.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance, risk management and statutory compliance.
• Oversee multi-company, multi-currency and cross-border financial operations.
• Drive asset performance analysis, profitability and return on investment.
• Support acquisitions, investment evaluations and business expansion.
• Lead, develop and manage the finance team.
• Improve financial systems, reporting processes and operational efficiencies.
• Provide commercial insight and financial guidance to Group Leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent recognised professional qualification.
• At least 10 years' progressive senior financial management experience.
• Strong technical accounting, IFRS and consolidated reporting experience.
• Proven experience managing group or multi-company financial operations.
• Exposure to multi-country and multi-currency environments.
• Strong ERP systems knowledge and advanced Excel skills.
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial controls.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
