Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Regional Sports Development Officer to drive community-focused sports initiatives in Centurion, Gauteng. The role blends field activities with office planning in a hybrid setup, engaging with schools, clubs, and government bodies to raise participation and performance.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in sports development, a relevant degree, strong governance knowledge, and excellent project management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Sports Management, Development, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in sports development, community engagement, or event management.
• Strong understanding of sports governance and the South Africa sports landscape.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within the region.
• Passion for sports and community development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional sports development strategies in line with national guidelines and local needs.
• Identify and support emerging sports talent within the region.
• Organise and facilitate sports clinics, workshops, and community events.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local government bodies, schools, and sports associations.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sports programs, reporting on progress and outcomes.
• Promote sports participation across diverse demographics, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
• Manage budgets allocated for regional sports development initiatives.
• Provide guidance and support to local sports coordinators and volunteers.
• Represent the organization at relevant community forums and sports-related meetings.
