Placements24 is seeking a visionary Director of Sports Development to lead and expand its sports programming in George, Western Cape. This senior leadership role focuses on strategizing, implementing, and managing grassroots to elite athlete initiatives, with a passion for community impact.

The successful candidate will oversee programs across diverse sports, manage a team, and secure funding while upholding child safety and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Minimum 7 years progressive experience in sports management, with at least 3 years in senior leadership or director role.
• Proven success in developing and implementing large-scale sports programs and strategies.
• Strong understanding of governance, athlete development pathways, and sports science principles.
• Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and budget management.
• Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
• Experience in building strategic partnerships and driving community impact.
• Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures in sports.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive sports development strategy for the region.
• Oversee planning, organization, and delivery of diverse sports programs and events for all ages.
• Manage and mentor a team of sports coordinators, coaches, and staff.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with schools, clubs, governing bodies, and organizations.
• Secure funding and sponsorships through grant writing and relationships.
• Ensure adherence to child safety, ethics, and sports science best practices.
• Develop and manage the annual budget for the sports development department.
• Promote inclusivity and accessibility in all initiatives.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and report outcomes to stakeholders.
• Represent the organization at relevant sports forums and conferences.
