Job summary

Medstep Clinic in Pretoria, South Africa, seeks a dedicated Case Manager to coordinate patient admissions, pre-authorisation, and length-of-stay extensions within a multidisciplinary team.

You will liaise with hospitals, doctors, and medical aids to secure authorisations, maintain accurate case records, and ensure beds are utilised efficiently. Experience in hospital or rehab settings is advantageous.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience as a Case Manager.
• Experience in hospital, rehabilitation facility, step-down facility, or healthcare environment is advantageous.
• Experience with medical aid authorisations and length-of-stay extensions is essential.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Consulting with hospitals, medical doctors, and other healthcare professionals referring patients to our facility for treatment and rehabilitation.
• Managing the pre-admission process and ensuring that all required documentation is obtained and completed.
• Obtaining the correct medical aid authorisations prior to admission.
• Ensuring that all relevant supporting documentation is received from referring facilities and medical practitioners.
• Coordinating admissions and ensuring that available beds are effectively utilised and consistently filled.
• Communicating with medical aids regarding patient authorisations and benefits.
• Applying for and securing extensions of length of stay where clinically required.
• Maintaining professional relationships with referring hospitals, doctors, medical aids, patients, and their families.
• Ensuring accurate and up-to-date case management records and documentation.
