Placements24 in Cape Town, Western Cape, seeks an experienced 5G Solutions Engineer to design and implement advanced 5G networks across RAN, core, and transport. You will translate customer requirements into robust technical designs and lead deployment activities.

The role emphasizes hands-on work in a collaborative team, with opportunities to stay current on 5G NR, NSA/SA, and cloud-native architectures. A strong background in NFV/SDN and IP routing is valued.

Qualifications

> Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
> 5+ years in mobile network engineering with a focus on 5G technologies.
> Knowledge of 5G NR, NSA/SA modes, RAN architecture, and core network functions (AMF, SMF, UPF).
> Experience with network planning, design, and optimization tools.
> Familiarity with IP networking (TCP/IP) and routing (BGP, OSPF).
> Understanding of NFV, SDN, and cloud-native principles.
> Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and integrate 5G network solutions (RAN, Core, transport).
Collaborate with product management and sales to translate requirements into specs.
Develop BOMs for 5G deployments.
Perform testing, validation, and performance tuning for 5G service delivery.
Troubleshoot complex 5G deployment issues.
Stay current with 5G standards and trends.
Prepare design guides, manuals, and presentations.
Provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
Contribute to process improvements in network design and deployment.
