Job summary

IntelliStaff is looking for a detail-oriented Buyer to source high-quality vehicle and heavy machinery components for its fleet. You will work closely with the maintenance team to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize downtime while ensuring timely procurement.

The role requires proven buying experience in automotive or heavy machinery, strong negotiation and supplier-management skills, and proficiency with inventory management software and ERP systems. On-site in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities

• Strategic sourcing for vehicle and heavy machinery components from approved vendors.
• Collaborate with maintenance to forecast replacement parts and prioritize procurement.
• Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms.
• Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking and ensure cost-efficiency.
• Oversee the procurement lifecycle from purchase orders to goods receipt and delivery issues.

About

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing high-quality components and parts for our fleet of vehicles and heavy machinery, working closely with our internal maintenance department to ensure optimal inventory levels and minimal downtime

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Sourcing: Source, negotiate, and procure vehicle and heavy machinery components, spare parts, and materials from approved vendors and suppliers.
• Maintenance Collaboration: Partner closely with the maintenance department to understand daily operational needs, forecast upcoming replacement parts, and prioritize urgent procurement requests.
• Supplier Management: Evaluate supplier performance, manage vendor relationships, and negotiate favorable pricing, lead times, and payment terms.
• Inventory & Cost Control: Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking, ensuring cost-efficiency without compromising on part quality.
• Order Tracking & Logistics: Oversee the entire procurement lifecycle—from issuing purchase orders and tracking shipments to managing goods receipt and resolving any delivery discrepancies.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or similar role within an automotive, manufacturing, or heavy machinery environment.
• Strong technical understanding of vehicle and machinery components.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
• Relevant qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
