Job summary

Barloworld Equipment in Gauteng is seeking a Lean/Continuous Improvement professional to support the Operational Excellence team. You will analyze data, develop metrics, and deliver BBS initiatives with training and coaching to frontline teams.

Responsibilities include building Power BI reports, identifying cost savings, guiding change management, and driving improvement loops through RIEs and A3 closures within business units.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and NQF 6 qualification related to Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or Data analytics.
• Bronze certification or equivalent lean experience/ accreditation.
• Knowledge of Power BI and data analytics tools.
• Valid driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Analyse data to unlock cost saving opportunities.
• Develop metrics, financial justification and valuation for BBS initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for replication of best practices.
• Deliver BBS concepts training to teams within a Business Unit.
• Facilitate improvement in process metrics, benefits and company goals.
• Deliver ad hoc assigned projects.
• Highlight barriers to BBS delivery to the Business Unit Lead.
• Support change management and guidance for new/revised solutions.
• Ensure BBS operates per standard within the area of responsibility.
• Assist with daily management of process control boards at the Gemba.
• Support BBS cultural change and event planning for A3 closures.
• Prepare monthly Mission Control updates.
• Facilitate PSE and RIE through 9-week cycles and ensure A3 closure.
• Build reports for KPI monitoring using Power BI.
• Coach first line managers on Lean tools.

Key Outputs

• Support the Operational Excellence team to achieve the Business Units BBS commitments.
• Analyse Data to unlock cost saving opportunities.
• Help develop the relevant metrics, financial justification and valuation for BBS initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for replication of best practices.
• Deliver the required BBS concepts training to various teams, as required, within a Business Unit.
• Actively facilitate the drive for improvement in process metrics, target financial benefits and achieve company goals.
• Deliver Ad hoc assigned projects.
• Highlight timeously any barriers to the delivery of BBS to the Business Unit Lead.
• Facilitate and support change management and the necessary guidance for the implementation.
• of new/revised solutions.
• Excellence team and Business Unit leadership as required.
• Ensure BBS is operating as per standard within the area of responsibility which would include daily assistance with the management of the process control boards at the Gemba.
• Support the required BBS cultural change.
• Assist event team leaders in preparation to close out A3.
• Assist with the preparation of the monthly Mission Control updates.

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

Minimum Required Qualification

• Grade 12
• NQF 6 qualification (Industrial/ Mechanical Engineering related qualification, Data analytics)
• Bronze certified/trained (Or equivalent validated lean Experience/ accreditation)
• Knowledge of Power BI and other Data analytics tools.
• Valid Driver's Licence

Advantageous

• Project management, operations management related qualification

Minimum Required Experience

• Ability to create Power BI reports
• Clear understanding of requirements for behavior and technical coaching / facilitation
• 3 years' experience in similar role
• Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement methodologies
• Proficient in data analysis and process mapping tools to highlight failure points
• Ability to quickly analyse and interpret performance data, identify trends, and establish root causes
• Strong business analysis skills, especially in the areas of process improvement and re-engineering
• Ability to set out, monitor and track benefits and outcomes
• Building a bottom-up culture of continuous improvement in the business
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands and shift priorities
• Participation and facilitation in rapid improvement event (RIE's)
• Demonstrated experience as a lean/continuous improvement (lean, theory of constraints, TPM, Six Sigma) is advantageous
• Successful demonstration of medium-to-complex project management/implementation
• Advanced computer literacy skills (MS Office)
