Job summary

Dream Hotels & Resorts seeks a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to manage Mantuma Camp in the uMkhuze Game Reserve. You will oversee day-to-day upkeep of guest accommodations, facilities and infrastructure to maintain top hospitality standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in maintenance with 2+ years in a supervisory role, preferably in lodges or resorts, and can work in a remote bush environment while upholding safety and environmental commitments.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Trade Test or relevant qualification in Electrical, Plumbing, Building Maintenance or similar discipline is advantageous.
• Health & Safety certification would be beneficial.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in general maintenance or handyman services with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Previous experience within hospitality, lodges, hotels or resorts is highly advantageous.
• Experience maintaining generators, water systems and general building infrastructure.
• Experience working in remote locations or game reserves would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance: inspect guest accommodation, public areas, offices and staff facilities; perform scheduled preventative tasks; identify issues before they impact operations or guest satisfaction; ensure equipment and facilities meet safety and company standards.
• General Maintenance: carry out plumbing repairs; perform basic electrical repairs; do carpentry repairs; undertake painting, tiling and general building repairs; repair fixtures and guest room equipment; maintain camp infrastructure.
• Plant & Equipment Maintenance: assist with generators, pumps, boreholes, geysers and water reticulation; monitor air-conditioning and refrigeration; report major failures to contractors; keep plant rooms clean and organized.
• Grounds & Facilities: maintain landscaped areas, pathways and outdoor facilities; monitor guest recreation areas; support sustainability initiatives.
• Guest & Operational Support: respond to maintenance requests promptly; minimise disruption to guests; collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office and Management to resolve issues; standby for emergency maintenance.
• Health, Safety & Compliance: follow OH&S policies; safe operation of tools; use ladders and electrical equipment safely; report hazards immediately; comply with conservation requirements in the reserve.
• Inventory & Administration: maintain maintenance records and logs; manage inventory of spare parts and consumables; report stock shortages; assist contractor supervision.
