Job summary

Bushwise is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance across its safari lodges, staff villages and reserve in Hluhluwe. This live-in role requires hands-on leadership of maintenance projects, vendor management, and sustainability initiatives.

You will coordinate preventative and breakdown maintenance, drive CAPEX initiatives, and ensure high standards of safety and service in a remote luxury setting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of maintenance management experience in a similar-sized operation.
• Qualified/experienced in Electrical or Refrigeration & Air-conditioning.
• Strong experience in Plumbing, water treatment, sewage treatment and building maintenance.
• Experience managing maintenance teams and contractors.
• Strong budgeting and supplier negotiation skills.
• Valid unendorsed South African driver’s license.
• Comfortable working in a remote, luxury safari environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventative and breakdown maintenance, projects and contractors across lodges, staff villages and reserve.
• Manage staff deployment, CAPEX projects and water/grey-water systems; drive sustainability initiatives and overall maintenance across the reserve.

Our client is looking for an Assistant Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across the lodges, staff villages and reserve, ensuring the highest standards are maintained.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• 3–5 years’ experience in maintenance management within a similar-sized operation
• Qualified/experienced in at least one of:
  • Electrical – single & three phase
  • Refrigeration & Air-conditioning
• Strong experience in:
  • Plumbing
  • Water treatment systems
  • Sewage treatment systems
  • Building & general maintenance
• Experience managing maintenance teams and contractors
• Strong budgeting, administration and supplier negotiation skills
• Excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities
• Valid, unendorsed South African driver’s licence
• Comfortable working in a remote, luxury safari environment

THE ROLE

You will oversee preventative and breakdown maintenance, projects, contractors, staff deployment, CAPEX projects, water and grey-water systems, sustainability initiatives and the overall maintenance function across the reserve.

This is a permanent live-in position.
