Job summary

wine.co.za in Helderberg is seeking an experienced bulk filter operator to join our busy cellar. You will set up, run, and clean large-scale filtration systems, oversee transfers of bulk wine, and ensure equipment hygiene and safety records are maintained.

The role requires at least 5 years in cellar or beverage processing, ability to lift heavy items, good communication, and a willingness to work overtime. Wine training such as SKOP is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bulk filter operating experience is required with minimum 5 years.
• Grade 12 qualification is required.
• Ability to lift heavy items and stand for long shifts.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and workplace safety rules.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a bilingual team player.
• Punctuality and attendance reliability.
• Willingness to perform ad hoc duties and overtime.
• Wine training (SKOP) would be advantageous.

Job description

We are a winery in the Helderberg area, looking for an experienced bulk filter operator to join our team in our big and busy cellar. The bulk filter operator sets up, runs, and cleans large-scale wine filtration systems and manages large wine transfers, load and unload bulk wine tankers, monitor clarity and pressure, and keep strict cellar hygiene and safety records.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS WOULD INCLUDE:

• Setting up and running large filtration units
• Loading and unloading bulk wine tankers, managing large volume transfers safely
• Cleaning and sanitizing pumps, hoses, fittings, and filter housings before and after use and maintaining cellar hygiene standards
• Drawing wine samples and recording volumes processed accurately, whilst adhering to quality standards
• Performing basic upkeep on equipment and reporting mechanical problems
• Effective record keeping
• Compliance with Health & Safety standards

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:

• Cellar or food/beverage processing background and bulk filter experience (minimum 5 years)
• Ability to lift heavy items (filter aids or hoses) and stand for long shifts
• Understanding of safe chemical handling, confined space rules, and workplace safety laws
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a bilingual team player
• Punctuality and attendance reliability
• Willingness to perform ad hoc duties and work overtime
• Minimum qualification: Grade 12
