Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Bridges Engineer to join their expanding infrastructure division in Randburg, South Africa. This hybrid role covers design, analysis, and project management of new bridge construction and assessment of existing structures.

You will perform structural analysis, develop detailed drawings, conduct condition assessments, and ensure compliance with SANS codes. Collaboration with road, geotechnical, and construction teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural or Bridge Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in bridge design and analysis.
• Proficiency in bridge design software and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of bridge construction methods and materials.
• Experience with bridge inspection and assessment techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridges (concrete and steel).

This position offers a blend of office-based design work and necessary site visits, providing a comprehensive experience in bridge engineering within a dynamic urban context.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for various types of bridges, including concrete and steel structures.
• Develop detailed design drawings, calculations, and specifications for bridge construction and rehabilitation.
• Conduct condition assessments and load ratings for existing bridge structures.
• Ensure all designs and assessments comply with relevant national and international bridge design codes (e.g., SANS 10160, SANS 10162).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including road engineers, geotechnical engineers, and construction personnel.
