Job summary

Sibanye Stillwater in South Africa is seeking a qualified Boilermaker Aide/Artisan to support mechanical services in a mining/plant environment. The role focuses on safe maintenance, installation of equipment, and adherence to SHE standards.

You will coach reporting staff, manage performance, and participate in regional forums to sustain operational excellence while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• NQF4/Grade 12 equivalent with English literacy.
• N2 Platers theory and drawings.
• Boilermaker trade certificate recognised by QTCO (Section 13/26D).
• 3+ years' experience as Boilermaker Aide/Apprentice/Artisan in mining/plant.

Responsibilities

• Ensure SHE compliance and safe work practices.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures and promote SHE leadership.
• Coach and develop reporting staff; manage performance and training.
• Lead cost-saving initiatives and maintain financial discipline within the unit.
• Maintain stakeholder relations and ensure open communication across teams.
• Oversee maintenance, installation, and construction of equipment to standards.
• Escalate unresolved mechanical issues and ensure quality workmanship.

• NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults) with English Literacy.
• N2 Platers Theory.
• N2 Platers & Structural Steel Drawing.
• Section 13 or 26D (completed learnership / apprenticeship) Boilermaker Trade Certificate as recognised by the QTCO.
• At least 3 years’ experience as a qualified Boilermaker Aide / Apprentice / Artisan within a mining/plant environment.
• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
• Clear security screening record.

• Attending to mechanical breakdowns.

Additional Requirements

• Valid Fork Lift and Mobile Crane driver’s licence will be advantageous.
