Job summary

South African National Blood Service Middelburg is seeking a dedicated nurse to collect whole blood and apheresis units, ensure donor safety, and deliver high-quality service at blood drives or donor centres.

You will welcome donors, assist with registration and forms, provide pre- and post-donation care, manage equipment, monitor stock and documentation, and coach others on customer service and SOP compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in General Nursing Sciences and valid nursing registration.
• Code B or EB manual driver's license.
• Minimum 2 years Registered Professional Nursing experience.
• Ability to manage donor care and phlebotomy per SOP.

Responsibilities

• Collect whole blood and/or apheresis units to meet assigned target.
• Welcome and guide donors; assist with registration and forms.
• Ensure proper donor documentation and post-donation care.
• Maintain equipment and report stock discrepancies.
• Assist with setting up blood drives and phlebotomy.
• Coach staff on customer service and handle complaints.
• Conduct basic safety checks and provide first aid if needed.
