Position Overview

• Location: Pretoria East




• Salary: R15,000 – R18,000 per month (Negotiable based on experience)




• Type: Full-Time (Includes weekends and night shifts on function days)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strong, hands-on, and experienced Bar & Functions Supervisor to take full ownership of their Main Bar and general bar operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for stock control, stock counts, GAAP systems, cash-ups, reporting, and bar staff management.

Additionally, this role includes function supervision—particularly during the evening and closing periods. Once the main function coordinator wraps up their duties, you will take charge of the remaining function operations, staff breakdown, and venue lock-up.

Key Responsibilities

1. Main Bar & Operations Management:

   
   
   
   

   • Take full responsibility for the Main Bar and daily bar operations.

   
   

   • Supervise, allocate, and prepare bar staff for service.

   
   

   • Manage bar setup, operation, and breakdown.

   
   



2. Stock & GAAP Control:

   
   
   
   

   • Oversee bar stock, regular stock takes, and receiving incoming stock.

   
   

   • Capture GRVs accurately and maintain GAAP records (essential).

   
   

   • Manage stock allocation across bars while controlling wastage, breakages, and shortages.

   
   



3. Cash-Ups & Reporting:

   
   
   
   

   • Verify individual barmen cash-ups and perform final reconciliations.

   
   

   • Identify discrepancies and submit all required bar reports promptly.

   
   



4. Function Supervision & Venue Closing:

   
   
   
   

   • Support the Function Coordinator during events.

   
   

   • Take full charge of remaining operations once the main function team leaves.

   
   

   • Oversee final staff duties, cleaning, stock returns, and secure the venue for the next event.

   
   

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience in bar supervision or management.




• Systems: Strong background in stock control and GAAP experience is essential.




• Skills: Excellent leadership, numerical skills, and people management abilities.




• Personality: Confident, authoritative, reliable, and able to work independently under pressure.




• Availability: Comfortable working weekends and occasional late-night functions.




• Demographic Profile: Male candidate, preferably between 30 and 45 years of age.

Working Hours

• Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 16:00




• Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00




• Days Off: 2 days off per week (usually Sundays, unless there is a scheduled function).




• Note: Hours are adjusted on function days to accommodate late finishes. Overnight stay at the venue may be required on certain function nights.
