Job summary

Career27 is seeking a Baker’s Assistant in Gauteng to support the baker and bakery team in preparation, production, baking, decorating, packaging and presentation of baked goods. You will measure ingredients, assist with doughs, load ovens, and help prepare orders while maintaining high hygiene standards.

Candidate should have Grade 12, basic knowledge of baking, and be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Previous bakery/kitchen/food-production experience advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of baking ingredients, preparation methods, and food-handling procedures.
• Good hygiene, cleanliness, and food-safety practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and production schedules accurately.
• Good physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move ingredients, trays, and bakery equipment safely.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays where required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, baking, decorating, packaging and presentation of baked goods.
• Measure and weigh ingredients and prepare doughs.
• Load and unload ovens; assist with cooling and packaging.
• Prepare orders for customers and maintain clean, sanitised workstations.
• Follow all food-safety and occupational-health-and-safety procedures.
