Job summary

E-Merge is seeking an experienced Technology Data Architect to lead design, governance, and evolution of enterprise-grade data platforms within Azure. The role shapes cloud-native data architectures to enable secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions, supporting growth, innovation, and compliance.

You will drive data modernisation, champion best practices in cloud architecture, and deliver data platforms powering analytics and BI across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in IT/CS/Data Science or related field.
• 7+ years of Enterprise Data Architecture experience with Azure.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, integration, and governance.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement enterprise-scale data platforms on Microsoft Azure.
• Design secure, scalable, cost-effective cloud-native data architectures.
• Lead migration of legacy data environments to Azure-based platforms.
• Establish data modelling standards across conceptual, logical, and physical models.
• Define and govern data lifecycle, security, metadata, lineage, and compliance (POPIA/GDPR).
• Enable enterprise reporting and analytics via Power BI and Azure Analysis Services.
• Provide architectural guidance for data-driven applications and enterprise integrations across Microsoft technologies.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, Terraform IaC, Azure Data Factory, and automated data workflows.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to align technology with strategic objectives.
