Placements24 is seeking a Ground Operations Officer to coordinate all ground handling activities at their facility in Klerksdorp. You will oversee baggage handling, aircraft marshalling, passenger services, and coordination with airport stakeholders to ensure smooth, safe, and timely aircraft turnaround.

The ideal candidate will bring proactive problem-solving abilities, strong communication, and leadership skills, with a focus on maintaining high operational standards in a dynamic airport

Qualifications

• Previous experience in airport operations, ground handling, or aviation logistics.
• Strong understanding of ground operations procedures, safety regulations, and airport terminology.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick, sound decisions.
• Proficiency in using relevant operational software and systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate ground handling services, including aircraft parking, baggage loading/unloading, and passenger boarding.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations, security protocols, and operational procedures during ground handling.
• Liaise with flight crews, air traffic control, and other airport departments to manage flight schedules and operational changes.
• Manage ground support equipment (GSE) and ensure its availability and proper maintenance.
• Train and mentor ground handling staff, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
• Respond effectively to operational disruptions and emergencies to minimize delays and ensure passenger safety.
