Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth is seeking a proactive Ground Operations Coordinator to oversee ground handling at the station. You will coordinate baggage, boarding, marshal aircraft, and ramp services to support punctual, safe aircraft turnarounds while liaising with flight crews and maintenance.

This role requires a minimum of 3 years in airline ground operations, strong communication and leadership, a high school diploma ( Aviation management preferred), and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in airline ground operations, ramp handling, or a related airport role.
• High school diploma or equivalent; tertiary qualification in aviation management or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee all ground handling operations for assigned flights, including baggage loading/unloading, passenger boarding, and aircraft servicing.
• Ensure adherence to airline procedures, safety regulations, and punctuality targets.
• Liaise effectively with flight crews, ground staff, maintenance personnel, and other relevant departments.
• Monitor aircraft turnaround times and take corrective actions to ensure on-time performance.
• Manage the allocation of ground equipment and resources to meet operational demands.
• Conduct regular safety checks and inspections of the ramp area.
• Maintain accurate records of all ground operations activities.
• Respond to operational disruptions and assist in resolving any issues that arise.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulations and company policies.
