Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specialized in thermal management for automotive applications in East London. The role covers concept through validation of heat exchangers, cooling circuits and HVAC systems, with CAD and CFD tools driving simulations.

The ideal candidate has a strong thermodynamics and fluid dynamics background, proficient in SolidWorks/CATIA and CAE streams, and works well with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical design with thermal management focus.
• Experience in automotive industry is a plus.
• Proficient in CAD software and thermal/CFD simulations.
• Strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and systems for automotive thermal management.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
• Run thermal and CFD simulations to optimize performance.
• Conduct component and system-level testing to validate designs.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and vehicle integration teams.
• Ensure designs meet automotive specs and regulatory requirements.
• Support DFM/DFA for producible designs.
• Troubleshoot design issues during development and testing.
• Prepare technical documentation and project reviews.
• Stay updated on trends in automotive thermal management.
