Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with automotive R&D experience to join their Kimberley team. You will design, develop and test mechanical components and systems for powertrain, chassis and suspension, collaborating with designers, electrical engineers and testing specialists.

The role requires a bachelor's in mechanical engineering, 4–6 years in automotive design, proficiency in CAD (CATIA V5, Siemens NX) and CAE tools, plus strong problem‑solving and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of automotive mechanical design experience.
• Strong proficiency in CAD/CAE software (CATIA V5, Siemens NX).
• Deep understanding of automotive systems, materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for automotive applications (powertrain, chassis, suspension).
• Perform FEA and CFD analyses to optimize performance, durability and efficiency.
• Create detailed CAD models and drawings using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure production quality and feasibility.
• Conduct component and system testing, analyze results and recommend improvements.
• Stay updated on automotive industry trends and technologies.
