Placements24 is seeking a specialized Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on the automotive sector to join their hybrid team in Sandton. You will design automotive components and collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality control to ensure performance and reliability.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, 6+ years in automotive design, and proficiency in CATIA, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, and data management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 6+ years' experience in mechanical design, with automotive focus.
• Proficiency in CATIA, SolidWorks, Unigraphics and automotive data management systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive mechanical components and systems, such as powertrain parts, chassis elements, or interior systems.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings adhering to automotive industry standards.
• Conduct rigorous testing and validation of designs, including performance, durability, and safety assessments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including styling, electrical engineering, and manufacturing, to integrate designs seamlessly.
• Analyze and resolve complex engineering challenges related to automotive applications.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant automotive regulations, standards, and customer specifications.
