Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This role focuses on designing automotive components, translating concepts into robust, manufacturable designs using advanced CAD tools.

You will contribute to next-generation vehicles and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work model. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and at least 4 years of automotive design experience, with proficiency in

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• ≥4 years of mechanical design experience in automotive components or systems.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS, CATIA or Inventor; FEA experience desirable.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949 is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop mechanical components for automotive applications using CAD.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform mechanical calculations and simulations (stress, thermal, fatigue) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
• Specify materials, select components, and liaise with suppliers.
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements for the automotive industry.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input for product improvements and new developments.
• Support prototype build and testing phases, and troubleshoot design issues.
• Contribute to the optimization of designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing tasks both remotely and on-site.
