Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Design Engineer - Automotive Components to join their product development team in Mahikeng, North West. You will design and validate automotive components using 3D CAD and simulations, delivering robust designs for manufacturing.

The role requires 4+ years in automotive component design, proficiency with SolidWorks or CATIA and GD&T, and collaboration with suppliers and manufacturing to ensure cost-effective mass production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in automotive component design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/CATIA) with GD&T knowledge.
• Familiarity with automotive standards and regulations.
• Experience with manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, machining).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive components from concept through production release.
• Perform design validation via simulations (FEA/CFD) and prototype testing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize for mass production and cost.
• Source materials with suppliers, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Create detailed drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss progress and solutions.
