Job summary

Tenneco Port Elizabeth, South Africa is seeking an Application Engineer to lead the coordination of the technical side of projects, monitor progress, and ensure objectives are met on time and within budget. The role requires collaboration with internal and global teams and supplier partners, and occasional travel.

You will design and implement new products, manage NPI from concept to production, validate designs with DV tests, and support various engineering activities across the OE/AM product

Qualifications

• Degree in relevant engineering discipline.
• 4–6 years minimum in product engineering and project management in automotive manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of DFM and APQP processes.
• Proven skills in project management, consulting and negotiation, decision making, control and follow up, organizing and planning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Design new products or modify existing designs and support production activities for OE/AM products.
• Manage all aspects of new product implementation, including customer communication, project management, BOM and drawings.
• Validate product designs by DV testing against specs.
• Use CAD/CAE tools to perform engineering tasks.
• Initiate new business enquiries and cost BOMs during feasibility studies.
• Lead problem solving using DMAIC, 8D, RCA & 5-why.
• Coordinate with management, production, and marketing on feasibility, cost, and demand.
• Maintain knowledge of company policies, safety and environmental regulations.
• Support Quality through investigation and root cause analysis.
