Job summary

Toyota South Africa Motors seeks an Accessory Product Development Engineer to design and develop new auto accessories, lead design reviews, and define evaluation methods in line with Toyota CAOD standards. You will create fitment guidelines, manuals and participate in production readiness.

You will manage development schedules, apply CAOD requirements, conduct tests and collaborate across engineering teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery of components.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 6 in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics or equivalent
• Postgrad qualification advantageous
• Minimum four years’ experience
• Proficient in CATIA (V5 or above)
• Toyota Engineering Standards & Systems knowledge
• Ability to read & understand basic electrical schematic drawings
• Experience in component development, manufacturing, quality & evaluation processes
• Basic Regulatory knowledge [SANS, ICASA, CRAN, BOCRA]
• Design Review knowledge [Failure analysis, troubleshooting & counter measures]
• ECI knowledge [Planning, Implementation, Documentation management, Communication]
• Manufacturing In Process Quality control knowledge
• Project Management for Part Development & reporting

Responsibilities

• Product design including FE A/CAE/ FMEA and technical drawings
• Develop product development schedules and milestone management
• Ensure adherence to Accessory Design Guidelines
• Lead design reviews (DRBFM, SE) for recurrence prevention
• Test, evaluate and fitment of products including user manuals
• Create clear evaluation plans to meet CAOD requirements
• Perform fire hazard evaluation for wire harness design
• Prepare Engineering Change Instructions (ECI)
• Present findings to management up to executive level
