Job summary

Psybergate (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Automation Test Analyst to design, develop, implement, and execute reusable automated test assets within our DevOps-enabled delivery teams. You will analyse business and technical requirements, collaborate with QA Leads, Developers, Architects, and Product Owners, and advocate effective test automation strategies across Agile sprints.

• Completed BSc / IT degree or other related fields.
• 3 - 6 years experience as an Automation Test Analyst.
• ISTQB Agile Foundation certification.
• Experience developing and executing automated test solutions using established automation frameworks and tools.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and quality assurance practices.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Experience integrating automated testing into DevOps/CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of software architecture and the ability to collaborate with Architects and Developers on automation approaches.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and execute reusable automated test assets.

• Participate in planning, estimation, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and acceptance criteria definition.

• Develop automation code using prescribed frameworks.
• Integrate automated tests into DevOps pipelines and CI/CD processes.
• Collaborate to improve automation frameworks and the testing platform.
• Catalogue and govern test automation artefacts in required repositories.
• Maintain testing artefacts for accessibility and traceability.
• Execute functional and automated testing and report progress.
• Log and manage defects; support root cause analysis and resolution.
• Identify product risks and mitigation strategies; provide status updates.
• Participate in showcases, sprint ceremonies, and retrospectives.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and contribute to improvements.
• Mentor Software Test Engineers and develop their capabilities.
• Stay informed about automation testing developments and new technologies.
• Manage workload and deliver testing activities on time.
• Support Agile ways of working and improve processes.

Job description

What you will be doing:

• Design, develop, implement, and execute reusable automated test assets using established automation frameworks and test tools.
• Analyse business and technical requirements to develop effective test automation solutions.
• Work closely with QA Leads, Practice Leads, Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and testing approaches.
• Participate in planning, estimation, sizing, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and acceptance criteria definition.
• Discuss low-level designs and functional requirements with QA Leads and Application/Solution Architects to determine appropriate test automation approaches.
• Develop automation code using the prescribed automation test kit and frameworks.
• Implement automated testing solutions that provide appropriate test coverage within the sprint.
• Ensure automation solutions are reusable, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with architectural and development standards.
• Integrate automated tests into DevOps pipelines and support automated test execution within CI/CD processes.
• Collaborate with technical teams to continuously improve automation frameworks and the overall testing platform.
• Ensure test automation code and related artefacts are appropriately catalogued, stored, and governed within the required repositories.
• Maintain relevant testing artefacts to ensure they are easily accessible and traceable.
• Execute functional and automated testing activities and report testing progress and outcomes to the squad.
• Log, manage, and track defects using the prescribed defect management process and tools.
• Provide accurate defect information to support root cause analysis and resolution.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure defects are resolved and root cause analysis is completed and documented.
• Identify potential product and quality risks and communicate these to the QA Lead, including possible mitigation strategies.
• Provide regular status updates on testing activities, risks, defects, and overall quality.
• Participate in showcases, sprint ceremonies, and retrospective reviews.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor Software Test Engineers within the team and support the development of their technical capabilities.
• Collaborate with peers and industry experts to remain informed about technical advancements and their application within the technology environment.
• Stay abreast of developments in automation testing, quality assurance, and related technologies.
• Manage own workload and deliver testing activities within agreed timelines.
• Contribute to business strategy, objectives, values, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support Agile ways of working and contribute to improving business processes, models, and systems.

What we are looking for:

• Completed BSc / IT degree or other related fields
