Job summary

PepsiCo in Malmesbury, Western Cape, seeks an Automation & Control Specialist to maintain and optimize PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and instrumentation across the flour mill. You will troubleshoot faults, calibrate instrumentation, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to maximize uptime and product quality.

The role requires practical experience with automation systems, CMMS or SAP PM, and a proactive approach to energy management and safety standards in a food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in FMCG/food manufacturing automation.
• National Diploma or higher in a related engineering field.
• Certification in PLC programming and SCADA/HMI is preferred.
• Experience with SAP-PGTe CMMS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and instrumentation.
• Perform planned preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with engineers to drive continuous improvement and energy efficiency.
• Read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control panel layouts.
