Placements24 invites an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Midrand team, focused on designing control panels, wiring diagrams, and automation systems for diverse industrial clients. You will translate client requirements into robust electrical designs ensuring functionality, safety, and reliability.

The role requires at least five years in industrial electrical design, proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and PLC/HMI software, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design for industrial control systems and automation.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical) and experience with PLC/HMI programming software.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, and control system architecture.
• Knowledge of industrial networking protocols and VFDs.
• Experience in manufacturing, mining, or water treatment is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or TechniEng registration with ECSA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control panels, schematics, and wiring diagrams for automation systems using CAD software.
• Specify electrical components, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and actuators.
• Develop and integrate electrical designs for process control, machinery automation, and SCADA systems.
• Ensure electrical designs comply with industry standards (IEC, SANS) and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers for system integration.
• Prepare technical documentation including design reports, BOMs, and installation manuals.
• Assist with site installation supervision and commissioning of control systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues during testing and post-installation phases.
• Stay abreast of new automation technologies and propose design improvements.
