Job summary

Capitec is seeking a QA Automation Engineer in SA to own end-to-end test automation for credit products. You will design, implement and maintain tests, stubs and data validation across origination to management flows. You’ll work with engineers, data scientists and product teams to ensure robust systems.

Based in Stellenbosch or Sandton, you’ll join a team that values growth, learning, and pragmatic automation. Expect opportunities to upskill and tackle complex, real‑world financial scenarios.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 National Certificate is required.
• A relevant tertiary qualification is required.
• 3–5 years hands-on experience in test automation.
• Solid knowledge of Playwright or Selenium.
• JavaScript/Node.js for test automation.
• SQL fundamentals including PostgreSQL/SQL Server.
• Familiar with test management, QA practices, reporting and defect tracking.
• Understanding of SDLC, APIs and system integration concepts.
• Ability to analyze and validate system behavior beyond scripts.
• Node.js service stubbing/mocking is advantageous.
• Experience with Kafka, AWS or financial services environments is advantageous.
• Strong communication across engineering, product and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and run end-to-end automated test suites to build confidence before shipping.
• Own test coverage across credit product flows from origination to management.
• Write and maintain service stubs and mocks for independent testing.
• Query and validate data using SQL to ensure correct outcomes.
• Track, report and communicate test results, surfacing risks early.
• Share knowledge and mentor less experienced engineers as the team grows.
